Harrison edges Edgewood

Harrison looked to take over sole possession of second place of the Southwestern Ohio Conference on Friday night when it took on Edgewood. The Wildcats did just that, defeating the Cougars, 20-16.

Alex Anderson got the scoring started in the first quarter for the Wildcats on a three-yard touchdown run, making it 6-0 Harrison after a missed extra point.

It wasn’t until the second quarter for Harrison to extend its lead to 13 on a Gerald Smith 34-yard run into the end zone.

A Mitchell Hogue seven-yard touchdown rush sent the halftime score to 20-0 in favor of Harrison.

Edgewood finally got on the board in the third quarter when Julias Hayden found the end zone on a four-yard rush. After three quarters, it was 20-7.

The Cougars found the end zone one more time, a Drew Reckart one-yard rush in the fourth quarter, but the Cougar offense couldn’t get into a groove and pull ahead. A late safety got Edgewood a little closer, but not close enough as Harrison finished the 2015 season 8-2 and a second place finish in the SWOC.

Edgewood finished the 2015 season 7-3 and a third-place finish in the SWOC.
