Miamisburg Cruises to Win
- Updated: October 2, 2015
Miamisburg cruises to a 35-17 win over Lebanon Friday night at Harmon Field.
The Vikings (5-1) were able to bounce back after falling last week at home to fellow GWOC opponent Wayne.
For much of the majority of the first half this was close as Miamisburg held a 21-17 lead at halftime. But once the second half started it was all Miamisburg, scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter to extend the lead. Both touchdowns coming from sophomore running back Tony Clark. The sophomore ran the football 10 times for 60 yards with three touchdowns. The first touchdown came on the first scoring drive by the Vikings just over seven minutes into the game. Clark also contributed on defense leading the team with six tackles.
Behind Ohio State commit offensive lineman Josh Myers, the Miamisburg Vikings ran the football for 245 yards. This coming from seven different running backs.
Miamisburg senior defensive back Kain Conley was an impact on defense with his two interceptions. These were the first interceptions for Conley since intercepting a pass in Week 1 against Thurgood Marshall.
The Vikings defense controlled the line of scrimmage, allowing Lebanon to only 28 yards on 21 carries. One of the top running backs in the conference senior Mitch Turpin was held to only six yards on four carries.
Lebanon (2-4) junior Dakota Allen was able to keep the Warriors in the game for the majority of the first half. He threw the football for 249 yards and two touchdowns. The two touchdown passes continued Allen’s streak of throwing a touchdown pass in every game this season. He has 20 touchdowns and five interceptions in the first six games of the season.
Lebanon will look to bounce back at DOC Stadium when they play West Carrolton next Friday, and Miamisburg heads to 1-5 Fairmont.
