The win extended the Lions winning streak to five games. The loss ended the Warriors four game winning streak. Freshman quarterback Josh Anderson played like a savvy veteran completing 7-9 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 94 yards and a score for the victors. Teammate Michael Williamson continued his good play catching Anderson’s touchdown toss and racking up 94 yards on the ground. The Lions defense held Goshen to just 25% on third and fourth down conversion attempts (7 of 25).

Middletown 42, Sycamore 6 – With Middletown (3-5, 2-3) clinging to and 8-6 third quarter lead over Sycamore (4-4, 3-2) senior Allante Simmons decided take matters into his own hands. The Middies senior scored four second half touchdowns and finished the night with 125 yards rushing as Middletown reeled off 34 unanswered points after halftime. The Middies rush defense was outstanding in becoming the first team all-season to hold the Greater Miami Valley Conference’s leading rusher Ra’Von Bonner to under 100 yards. Bonner had just 66 yards which was 102 less than his per game average heading into the contest. The loss put a huge damper on the Aviators playoff aspirations.

Bethel-Tate 34, Batavia 6 – Bethel-Tate (5-2, 2-0) clinched its first winning season since 2000 as the Tigers roared past Batavia (2-6, 1-2). The victory sets up a showdown with Williamsburg next Friday and chance to capture a rare league title for Bethel-Tate. Both teams are unbeaten in the SBAAC National division. The matchup becomes pivotal for the Tigers who are looking to make history with the program’s first ever playoff appearance.

Will-Coker-Woodward-2015

Harrison 56, Ross 14 – It took less than two minutes for Ross (3-5, 0-4) grab a 7-0 lead over host Harrison (5-3, 3-1) as the Rams set their sights on an upset. Harrison junior Gerald Smith was having none of that as he returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. The Wildcats speedster and his teammates took the contest over from there and built a 35-7 advantage after one quarter. Smith also had a 68-yard scoring run and caught a 47-yard touchdown pass in the opening stanza. When the dust settled Smith would wind up with 10 touches while amassing 365 all-purpose yards and finding the end zone five times (two kickoff returns, two rushing, one receiving). Harrison can solidify their playoff chances if they can take down Northwest and Edgewood (who are a combined 13-3) in the final two weeks of the season.

Woodward 27, Shroder 21 – There may not be a player in Southwest Ohio any hotter than Woodward (4-3, 2-1) running back, Will Coker. The junior carried the ball 43 times for 263 yards and scored all four of the Bulldogs as they edged out a very solid Shroder squad (4-4, 3-1). This was the first time in the last five games that Coker failed to hit the 300-yard mark rushing. In that span he has run for 1,470 yards with 20 touchdowns on the ground as his team has one four of those five affairs.
