Roundup: Indiana – Playoffs

It was a solid start to the post-season for the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference Class 3A schools. Three of the four teams advanced on to round two of the sectionals on Friday evening. The Class 4A EIAC schools didn’t fare as well with East Central being the only squad to move on to round two.

East Central 40, South Dearborn 0 – East Central continued its dominance over South Dearborn shutting them out for the sixth time in their last seven meetings. The Trojans have outscored the Knights 350-7 during that span. It will be a trip up I-74 northwest to Shelbyville. The Golden Bear who are sitting at 9-1 will be looking their first 10-win campaign since 2007. East Central raised its record 8-2 with the victory over South Dearborn.

Seymour 46, Franklin County 30 – The wheels fell off the bus after halftime for Franklin County. Seymour scored 30 points in the third quarter to open up some space between themselves and the Wildcats. Franklin County never recovered ending a successful but less than satisfying season at 6-4.

Pendleton Heights 48, Connersville 32 – A chance to make something of a lost season came and went through the grasp of Connersville. Despite their second highest scoring output of the season the Spartans still allowed 42 plus points for the fourth straight week. Connersville end the year at 1-9.

Class 3A, Sectional 30
Batesville 45, Manual 0 – For the fifth straight week Batesville came out on top of its game. The Bulldogs posted their first shutout of the year and held their fourth straight foe to less than 10 points. Batesville will go on the road to face red hot Indian Creek who has won six games in a row.

Jordan-Houze-Lawrenceburg

Greensburg 47, John Marshall 8 – Greensburg evened its record at 5-5 as they put an end to John Marshall’s winless season. The Pirates advance to the second round of the sectionals for the first time in three years. Quarterback Drew Foster set the Greensburg single season record for passing yards. He ran and threw for a touchdowns. He was one of seven different Pirates to cross the goal line. Next up for Greensburg is a date with Lawrenceburg

Lawrenceburg 67, Rushville 7 – Austin Bowling ran for six first half touchdowns on just 13 carries as Lawrenceburg wasted little time in disposing of Rushville. The Tigers are makings scoreboards operators earn their money averaging 56.75 points per contest during their current four game winning streak. Lawrenceburg now gets a chance to avenge a 21-20 loss to Greensburg as they host the pirates next Friday night.
