Holland Field Debuts Friday

Stadium Classic’s – Miamisburg
They haven’t even played a game there yet and Holland Field on the campus of Miamisburg High School is already a TSF Stadium Classic. It is an Eden that would make many small colleges envious. The Stadium is the centerpiece of a beautiful blossoming athletic complex being built on school grounds.

Holland Field replaces the battle-scarred and antiquated Harmon Field in grand fashion. Unlike the cookie-cutter metal bleachers that have been erected at high schools across America over the past few decades this stadium is unique and takes comfort to a new level.

The stands aren’t bleachers, they are individual seats, 5,000 of them in all. “These sections of seats are all from the Daytona Speedway. They were just not being used. There are 3,700 seats on the home side and 1,300 on the visitors side,” Miamisiburg athletic director Jason Osborne states proudly. It was an amazing find. There is something that makes one smile when thinking about the irony that people will be racing to their seats to see this place and watch the Vikings play.

Even from the farthest vantage point there literally isn’t a bad seat in the house. Holland Field has this MSL soccer stadium vibe to it. It’s got some size but it’s not too large, close to field but not too close for comfort. Attention to detail has been paid to personal space. That is going to make for a very pleasurable experience for all that come to enjoy what Friday night is all about. Holland Field is going to make Miamisburg football a “can’t miss” event for years to come.

WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE?
Holland Field is going to be a huge home field advantage. It is going to be loud when that place is filled making it very intimidating for opposing teams. Throw in the pride and adrenalin factor that goes into playing for their school in front of sold out crowds who wouldn’t want to play for the Vikings. Friday nights are going to be a rush at Miamisburg.

THE NAMESAKE:
The field is named after Eudon Holland. A Miamisburg Class of 1951 member. Holland was an all-conference football player and former coach for the Vikings.

GOODBYE OLD FRIEND:
Miamisburg played football for 90 years at their former residence, Harmon Field which opened in 1926.
