Mason took the lead on a 5-yard touchdown catch from Jake Harris to Cameron Buford.

But the Indians tied it on an Ethan Burch TD catch and went ahead five minutes later on an Aaron Carmack 1-yard run.

Late in the second quarter, Harris hooked up with Austin Croy for a 60-yard score to tie it at 14.

The Comets’ Matt Sora ran in the decisive score in the third quarter, his seventh ground score of the season, from a yard out.

A 21-yard field goal by Fairfield cut it to four, but the Indians could not close the gap.

Michael Kopaygorodsky led Mason in ground yards with 70, and Harris finished 6 of 11 for 138 yards.

James Mitchell carried the ball 12 times for 73 yards in the Fairfield loss.

Both teams are on the road next week, as Fairfield heads to Colerain while Mason travels to Lakota East.
