Myers, Evans buck trends in DII

In perhaps one of the biggest surprises of the season Maimisburg lineman Josh Myers was named the Division II Southwest District offensive player of the year. The 6-foot-6, 310 pound Myers paved the way for a Vikings offense that ran for 265.9 yards per game and found the end zone 42 times on the ground during the regular season. Myers has verbally committed to Ohio State.

Turpin linebacker Lang Evans spearheaded a Spartans defense that held seven opponents to eight points or less and none more than 21 points during an undefeated regular season. Evans was named the Southwest District defensive player of the year for his work. “He is the best player I have ever coached,” Turpin head coach Rob Stoll said of Evans who also was named the ECC defensive player of the year for a second straight year.
