2017 KFCA District Players and Coaches of the Year

The Kentucky Football Coaches Association has released its 2017 District players and coaches of the year. Here is a look at our local districts and their best.

Daniel Mescher (Beechwood), Sr, WR/DB/K – A jack-of-all-trades who contributes in a ll phases of the game. Has scored 110 points on 56 extra points, four field goals and seven touchdowns (on 29 receptions) along with two interceptions and is one victory away from a second state title ring.

Mason Smith (Walton-Verona), Sr, RB/LB – Was the backbone of a Bearcats defense that posted seven shutouts in their nine wins.

Jordan Fann (Lloyd), Sr, QB – Threw for 1,213 yards, ran for 1,097 yards and accounted for 35 touchdowns (18 passing, 17 rushing) as the Juggernauts finished 8-4.

Nelson Perrin (Scott), Sr, ATH – Made an impact on both sides of the ball for the Eagles. Perrin finished with 849 yards rushing, 506 yards receiving, 16 touchdowns (nine rushing, six receiving), was in on 55 solo tackles and had six takeaways (three fumble recoveries, thee interceptions) including a scoop and score.

AJ Mayer (Covington Catholic), Sr, RB – Has led the Colonels to a 14-0 record as they are one win away from a state championship. Mayer has thrown 34 touchdown passes and just three interceptions.

Jake Chisolm (Ryle), Sr, RB – It was one monster game after the other for Chisolm who ran for 2,315 yards (210/game) and found the end zone 35 times (33 rushing) for the 8-3 Raiders.

Alex Dowds (Campbell County), Sr, RB – Ran for 1,777 yards, caught 23 passes for 260 yards with 23 touchdowns (22 rushing) as the Camels finished 7-5.
