National Signing day came and went on Wednesday and several players from the Greater Miami Conference signed their Letters of Intent.
Five-star linebacker Jordan Hicks was one of seven players from Lakota West to sign. Hicks, who had narrowed his list to Florida, Ohio State, and Texas, chose the Longhorns.
“It just felt right in my heart,” Hicks claimed. “My visits to the University of Texas really made me feel that it is the right place for me.”
Teammates, tight end Alex Smith and offensive lineman Kevin Schloemer, also made big Division splashes. Both players are staying closer to home with Smith heading to Kentucky and Schloemer landing at Cincinnati.
Jordan Thompson, who led the GMC in rushing with 1,691 yards and 20 touchdowns, opted for Youngstown State over Memphis, Buffalo, and UT-Martin.
Princeton’s Spencer Ware made it official that he will be playing at LSU next year. The five-star athlete is expected to move from quarterback to running back for the Tigers.
Middletown’s strong finish to the season definitely helped many of their seniors garner college attention. In total, 10 Middies made commitments.
Three of the team’s top performers are headed to Bowling Green as quarterback Caleb Watkins, athlete Jerry Gates, and wide receiver Nick McKnight are all set to become Falcons.
“Having Nick and Jerry coming is a great thing,” Watkins said of having his teammates moving on to the next level with him. “We all did great at Middletown and are good friends and want to continue that here at Bowling Green.”
