It was signing day in Northern Kentucky and there were a handful of players from Class 6A, District 6.
Ryle tight end Tate Nichols made his decision to commit to Notre Dame last month and made it official on Wednesday. He’s expected to move to the offensive line at the college level.
The 6-foot-7, 278-pound senior had originally given a verbal commitment to Stanford, but was extended an offer to Notre Dame after Brian Kelly arrived in South Bend.
"He's here to win," Nichols told Rivals.com about the Irish’s new head man. "I think he can do it. Just the whole class is excited about everything because he brings a lot of passion, a lot of energy."
All eyes on were on Simon Kenton where the Pioneers had four football players set to sign, including the school’s all-time leading rusher Miles Simpson.
Simpson, who had narrowed his list down to Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky, opted to stay in-state for the Wildcats.
“Hopefully I can’t do something to help them get up even further,” Simpson said of his joining a rising UK program.
Teammates Jordan Hansel (Ball State), Nik Brown (Campbellsville), and Derek Piccirillo (Campbellsville) also signed Letters of Intent.
