FAVC Scarlet: Channell Not Returning

By TSF Staff | TRISTATEFOOTBALL.COM

Edgewood City School officials announced last week that the district would not be offering a new one-year contract as head football coach for the 2011-2012 School Year to Steve Channell.

“The leadership of the district decided a change was needed,” District Director of Athletics and Communication John Thomas stated. “We appreciate Steve’s years of service in heading up our football program.”

Channell has been atop the Cougars’ program for the past 22 years. During his tenure he led the team to a 152-68 record, including a 5-5 mark a year ago.

“The search will begin immediately. At this time there is no deadline set for applications or hiring,” Thomas added. “Our goal is to find top quality coaches who will bring tremendous leadership to our program, school district and community, and continue the great tradition which dates back to the 70’s.”
