The Holy Cross Indians got out to a resounding start in 2011 by stomping the Dayton Greendevils 65-13 on Friday night.
Holy Cross (1-0) scored 37 first-quarter points, including four scores by sophomore Jalen Beal, without missing a beat. Beal finished the opening frame 107 total yards of offense and blocked punt.
Dayton (0-1) failed to do much of anything until the game was well out of hand. Junior Alex Thiel accounted for both of the team’s touchdowns in the loss. It wasn’t the start to the season that first-year head coach Chad Montgomery was hoping for.
Dayton hits the road next week as they travel to Lloyd while Holy Cross heads to Cooper for a meeting with the Jaguars.
