WALTON-VERONA 42, LLOYD 14

By TSF Staff | TRISTATEFOOTBALL.COM

The Walton-Verona Bearcats used a power running game to move past the Lloyd Juggernauts on Friday night at home, 42-14.

Walton-Verona (3-1) rushed for 357 yards and six touchdowns in the game, including a career-high 192 yards and three scores from junior Corey Bennett.

Lloyd (1-2) held the Bearcats close for the first 12 minutes of action, but they had no answers up front and things got out of hand quickly in the second quarter as Walton-Verona opened up a 28-0 halftime lead.

The Juggernauts got late touchdowns form via a 13-yard Dexter Smith-to-Mitchell Brooks scoring strike and a 19-yard run by Jared Gabbard.

Lloyd looks to bounce back as they head to Gallatin County next Friday. Walton-Verona has bye next week before hosting Carroll County on September 23.
