Troy (4-1) staved off a furious Beavercreek (3-2) fourth quarter comeback to win their third straight. Down 28-7 the Battlin’ Beavers found the end zone three times in games final seven minutes but the Trojans 14 points were enough to offset the threat.
The game saw 740 yards of total offense combined from the two teams and 543 of that was rushing. The two quads were separated by 1:02 in time of possession.
Marcus Foster posted a game high 123 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the victors. Teammate Isaiah Williams pitched in with 73 and a score. They weren’t the only two that made an impact in the game as Ian Dunaway caught five passes for 104 yards with a touchdown and 178 all-purpose yards. On defense Zachary Butcher and Chris Blair combined to get in on 28 total tackles. Seth Perdziola recovered a fumble and took it 77 yards to give the Trojans their biggest lead of the contest at 21 with nine minutes remaining.
Beavercreek running backs Zach Smith and Allen Lawrence combined for 224 yards on the ground as each found the end zone once and both had 100+ yards on the evening. Fullback and senior, Matthew Ringle found the end zone twice for his first two varsity touchdowns. Airius Moore led the battling beavers defense with 14 total tackles and a fumble recovery.
Troy hosts Butler (5-0) in their GWOC North opener on Friday night. Beavercreek is up against Northmont (2-3) at Miami Valley Stadium in GWOC Central play.
