Friday night September 23rd, 2011 will go down as one of the most memorable games in the history of Lawrenceburg football. The Tigers stopped a Batesville two-point conversion in overtime to preserve a 69-68 victory. That is not a misprint, this was one remarkable affair. The were many stars on this amazing evening but it was Chad Banschbach that made the stop on that final play. All of this after he ran for 257 yards on 23 carries with four rushing touchdowns while racking up 299 all-purpose yards and posting 11.5 total tackles on defense.
Lawrenceburg (3-3, 1-2) racked up a school record 713 total yards including 563 on offense. Quarterback Evan Van Strien threw for 249 yards and four touchdowns. He found receiver Robbie Jackson five times for 124 yards and two scores. Kicker Jake Newman will go in the record books for most PAT's in a game.
Batesville (4-2, 2-2) ran for 386 yards with eight touchdowns on the ground. The Bulldogs did not make turnover in this game.
”if the EIAC had a television station like ESPN or the Big Ten Network, this would be one you would see as an Instant Classic!!!” stated Lawrenceburg head coach Ryan Knigga "It was Senior Night in the Pit (Neary Field), and that is a game the seniors, and the fans will remember for a long time."
