The 2011 version of the Owen County Rebels (7-0, 2-0) are off to the best start in school history. No Rebels team has ever come out of the gate 7-0. The most wins in a season is nine. This group is well on their way to matching and possibly topping that mark.
Owen County is led by defensive end/tight end Sawyer Williams. "Sawyer is the best player on the field every Friday. On Defense, no one has been able to block him yet. On Offense, he is an unbelievable weapon. At 6-foot-7 and 210 pounds he can run, catch, and block" states heads coach Adam Fowler. Williams has grabbed 30 passes for 652 yards and nine touchdowns. On defense he has four fumble recoveries including one for a score.
Receiver Chris Day has been on fire. He is coming off a three game stretch where he caught 24 passes for 401 yards and seven touchdowns. On the year the junior has 32 receptions for 482 yards and eight touchdowns. "Chris is an outstanding receiver. He runs wonderful routes and never drops a ball. He is one of our team leaders, as a junior. He has a great will to be great" says Fowler.
