The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds rolled off their 13th straight victory on Friday night as they beat the rivals, the Newport Wildcats, by a 56-14 margin to claim the Firemen’s Bell.

Newport (4-5, 1-2) was tied at 14-14 late in the first half and only trailed by seven at the break. However, the Thoroughbreds scored 28 unanswered points during the third quarter to seal the deal.
The Wildcats’ Jashawn Short completed 13-of-21 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown, a 79-yard connection to Daylin Garland. Garland also scored on an 11-yard run in the loss.
