The 2011 season has not gone as planned for Springboro (3-6, 2-1). The Panthers six losses are to teams that are a combined 39-15 on the year. Wide receiver Jake Johnson has been a pleasant surprise for head coach Ryan Wilhite and Springboro this fall. The junior has hauled in a Tri-State high 14 touchdowns on 44 receptions for 710 yards. He also has a punt return for a score.
"Jake is a rare talent. His hand-eye coordination is as good as anyone that I've coached. He tracks the ball well and is a threat vertically" Wilhite laments about his rising star. Johnson is already well on his way to a fine career with 69 receptions for 1,120 yards and 18 touchdown catches at the varsity level.
