The Conner Cougars advanced in the Class 5A playoffs by picking up a 28-7 win at home on Friday night over the East Jessamine Jaguars.
Sophomore quarterback Drew Barker ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to help Conner (7-4) to the win. He finished with 229 yards passing. Cameron Fogle was on the receiving end of both scores and added a 53-yard rushing touchdown of his own.
The Cougars have now won three of their last four games and have averaged 38 points per game during that span.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY 28, COOPER 12 - The magical season by Cooper (6-5) came to an abrupt halt as the Jaguars came up short in their bid to win the school’s first-ever playoff game. Despite earning the No. 1 seed, the district champs had many miscues against Montgomery County. They fell behind 21-0 in the second quarter and couldn’t dig out of the hole. A.J Collins and A.J. Branch each had touchdowns in the defeat.
FRANKLIN COUNTY 56, SCOTT 21 - Scott (4-7) had no answers for Franklin County as they allowed 478 yards of offense to the Flyers while managing just 160 yards of offense. Quarterback Ben Osborne connected with Brandon Stamper on an 80-yard pass and added another score on 43-yard run later in the game. Stamper finished with 134 total yards in the loss.
ANDERSON COUNTY 33, SOUTH OLDHAM 26 - South Oldham (6-5) fell behind 26-7, but scored 19 unanswered points to pull even with five minutes to go in the game before Anderson County’s Ethan Kelly scored the go-ahead TD on a 4-yard run with 4:50 left in the game. Seth Carmichael threw three touchdowns to pace the Bearcats.
