Two months after Tom Spritzky announced his retirement, the Dixie Heights Colonels have hired Dave Brossart as their head football coach.
Brossart, who has served as the offensive line coach and offensive coordinator for the past three seasons at Dixie Heights, has also been a head coach at CovCath (2007-08) and Finneytown (2004-06). His overall record as a head coach is 24-31.
The 1989 Beechwood graduate played college football at Georgetown College where he graduated in 1994. He becomes the first-ever coach to be the head coach at both Dixie Heights and CovCath, the school’s Dixie Highway rival.
“I am proud to announce that Dave Brossart has been named the next Head Football Coach at Dixie Heights,” Dixie Heights athletic director Matt Willhoite told parents in an e-mail. “The Search Committee, after accepting numerous resumes, doing initial screenings, and conducting two rounds of interviews, has unanimously agreed that Coach Brossart is the best fit to lead the program.”
The 41-year old is a match teacher at Dixie and has been handling the team’s off-season workout program since Nov. 29. He was one of four candidates that were interviewed.
