Kontsis Wins MLCF Award

Walnut Hills head coach George Kontsisw was named the Coach of the Year by the Marvin Lewis Foundation.




Walnut Hills head coach George Kontsis was named the Marvin Lewis Community Fund Coach of the Year. Kontsis led the Eagles to their first-ever playoff appearance and a record tying eight victories for the program.

In the midst of a 36-game losing streak when he took over the mess at Walnut Hills, Kontsis is now 20-21 in his tenure. The Eagles have not had a losing season since 2008 after going 3-47 the five seasons prior.

The MLCF Coach of the Year award is based on a coaches teaching skills, sportsmanship, dedication to players, and commitment to education and his community.

Award ceremonies will be Tuesday, February 28th at the Westin Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis will present all honors that night.
