SWOFCA 20, MVFCA 14

St. Bernard, OH – It wasn’t pretty and even chippy at times but in the end the all-stars representing Cincinnati and the Southwest Ohio Football Coaches Association (SWOFCA) outlasted the boys from Dayton and the Miami Valley Football Coaches Association (MVFCA) in a highly entertaining, thunderstorm shortened affair at Bron Bacevich Stadium (Roger Bacon High School). The third annual game featuring seniors from both the Queen City and the Gem City was a night to showcase their talents and recognize and award scholarships to graduating kids of coaches from both associations.

The SWOFCA squad came out of the gate clicking on all cylinders as quarterback Dickie Engel (Harrison) ran for a score and threw for another in the contest’s first seven minutes. The MVFCA found its footing in the second quarter as Alex Horney (Greenview) connected with Jackson Davis (Tippecanoe, Findlay commit) on a pair of touchdown passes. The second came just 46 seconds before intermission.

As the first half clock expired Engel found DJ Hendricks (Oak Hills) from six-yards out. It would prove to be the winning score and the only touchdown catch of Hendricks’ career. The third quarter got underway but inclement weather put an end to the evening before either team could find the end zone again.

It was a special night and one last homecoming, so to speak, for Demico Harris and Damien Dawson (Tusculum commit) and Demico Harris from St. Bernard-Elmwood Place. The dynamic duo each scored a touchdown on the turf at Bron Bacevich Stadium where SB-EP plays all of its home games.
