Walnut Hills blanks Woodward
- Updated: August 29, 2015
CINCINNATI – A.J. Fletcher ran for a pair of touchdowns as Walnut Hills blanked Woodward, 23-0.
It was the first time that the Eagles had scored more than 20 points in a game since Halloween of 2013.
Walnut Hills scrapped its spread attack this season for what head coach George Kontsis call his “armed forces offense.” The Eagles relentlessly ran the ball and it paid off in the time of possession battle. That led to the final difference on the scoreboard. Of Walnut Hills 273 yards of offense 243 was gained on the ground.
It was Woodward the fourth time in the last six games (dating back to last year) that Woodward has been held scoreless. The Walnut Hills defense recorded its first shutout since Oct. 25 2013. The Eagles needed a fourth quarter goal-line stand to preserve the shutout. They held the Bulldogs to 115 total yards.
Walnut Hills will host Princeton (0-1) next Friday night. Woodward looks to rebound against the North Adams Club team.
