Newport shuts out Bellevue
- Updated: September 11, 2015
Senior Tyree Bolden scored the only touchdown of the game as Newport blanked Bellevue, 8-0 on Friday.
In the third quarter, Bolden went around the left end for a 14-yard TD run to break the double shutout. Freshman quarterback Tyler Porter ran in the ensuing conversion.
Porter finished with 83 rushing yards on 14 carries, although he would’ve been over 100 had it not been for a 33-yard loss on a botched snap. Bolden ended the night with 56 ground yards.
Sophomore outside linebacker Kamren Crim paced the Wildcats on defense with 11 tackles.
Newport (1-3) outgained the Tigers (2-2), 236-92.
The Wildcats are off next week and travel to Owen County on Sept. 25. Bellevue hosts the Holmes next Friday.
