Led by a stout defense, Butler defeated Sidney, 29-0 on Friday. Butler held the Yellow Jackets to 233 yards of total offense while forcing two turnovers. Vinnie Flori wreaked havoc for the Aviators, registering 11 tackles and three sacks.
Butler’s first points came early in the first quarter, when quarterback Chandler Craine connected with Treylann Sanders on a 26-yard touchdown pass.
Aviators senior running back Nic Martin found the end zone twice in the first half from one and three yards out. At halftime, Butler held a 22-0 lead.
The only scoring of the second half came when Martin made it a hat trick, scoring his third touchdown of the game on a seven yard run.
Martin ran for 53 yards, while his backfield counterpart Logan Flatt tallied 67 yards rushing.
Sidney running back Andre Gordon rushed 19 times for 102 yards.
Butler, off to its best start since 2011 at 5-2, will look to remain undefeated in conference play when it hosts Greenville next week. Sidney will look to bounce back when it hosts Troy.
