Springboro QB too much for Xenia
- Updated: October 9, 2015
After suffering a narrow defeat to Mason in the first week of the season, Springboro has now won six games in a row with a win over Xenia, 52-26 on Friday night.
Xenia jumped out to an early lead when Rocky James scored on a seven yard touchdown pass from Danny Naylor.
Moments later, defensive back Ryan Johnson returned an interception 42-yard for a touchdown, extending the Xenia lead to 13-0.
Springboro quarterback Elijah Cunningham found the end zone with his legs later in the quarter, scoring from 54-yards out as Xenia led 13-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Cunningham would find the end zone again in the second quarter, this time connecting with Nick Kovacks on a seven yard touchdown pass.
Cunningham would finish with 262 yards passing and three touchdowns through the air, while adding one rushing touchdown.
Xenia quarterback Danny Naylor tallied 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Springboro outgained Xenia, 432-317.
The Panthers continue to dominate the GWOC South. Friday’s victory over Xenia marked the 17th consecutive conference victory for Springboro. The Panthers last defeat in GWOC South play came back in week 10 of the 2011 season, a 46-31 loss to rival Lebanon.
Next week, Springboro will look to remain undefeated in conference play when it hosts West Carrollton. Xenia faces another tough test when it hosts Miamisburg.
