2016 Snapshot: Williamsburg
- Updated: August 9, 2016
The Wildcats made the playoffs for the second time in three years behind two running backs, Spencer Clowery and Kurt Meisberger, who rushed for over 1,000 yards. Now those two explosive players have graduated, leaving the Wildcats to look for others to pick up where their predecessors left off.
Head coach Scott Lefker is entering his seventh season with Williamsburg. “Team chemistry is a strength within this Wildcats team, and the seniors are planning to continue the success the graduating class has established,” Lefker says.
One area the Wildcats continue to struggle is the amount of students coming out for the football team. This season the roster is built more around the underclassmen as 23 of the 39 players are either in ninth or tenth grades. Lefker is planning to use his upperclassmen on both sides of the football to help with the inexperience on the roster.
Division VI, Region 24
2015 RECORD: 8-3, 4-0 SBAAC National
COACH: Scott Lefker (43-29 at Williamsburg, seven years; 43-29 overall)
TOP RETURNESS
Andrew Smith, Sr, WR/LB – Smith was third on the team with 58 tackles and one interception. This is after having recording 81 tackles as a sophomore. His performance earned him First Team All-SBAAC National accolades ‘15.
Nate Bogan, Jr, QB/CB – Led the team with five interceptions, which led to Second Team All-SBAAC National accolades as sophomore. With Zach Ward graduating, Bogan can see more time behind center this season.
Noah Williams, Sr, OL/DL – An explosive player on the line, Williams led the team with three-and-a-half sacks. His 60 tackles ranked second on the Wildcats. He was part of a Wildcats line that recorded over 2,000 yards of rushing a year ago. His play rewarded him with Second Team All-SBAAC National accolades.
Alex Hatter, Jr, OL/LB – Part of an offensive line that helped one of the best rushing attacks in Division VI. This earned Hatter a Second Team All-SBAAC National selection as sophomore.
Dylan Bailey, Sr, OL/DE – Helped the defense, ranking fourth on the team with 52 tackles. Also contributed on the offensive line.
Cameron Hart, Jr, K – Last season converted 40 of 46 extra point attempts.

Kohl Miller, Sr, TB – Is being looked at as a possible replacement in the backfield. Miller had a dozen touches, which one resulted in a touchdown as a junior.

2016 SCHEDULE
Avoiding an ambush at Deer Park in the opener is a must to build confidence. This a year where the Division VI Wildcats could steal a win from Division II Amelia in Week 3. That would be a huge boost to Williamsburg’s Level I Harbin points. The only other SBAAC American crossover game will be against Division III Goshen. TA titanic battle for the Wildcats. A victory in that affair would show that this team is playoff worthy and capable of winning the programs first ever postseason game. The final four tilts will be against division foes – at Bethel-Tate, hosting Blanchester, at Clermont Northeastern and hosting Batavia.
