Week 2: WCPO Player of the Week

TriStateFootball.com has partnered with WCPO 9 On Your Side to present the High School Football Player of the Week for the 2016 regular season. Players will be nominated from the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Eastern Indiana areas.

Each week 12-15 nominees will be selected from a large list of some of the area’s top performances and will be included in an online voting poll to determine a winner. The voting is open from now until Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. ET. Voters can vote once per hour, per IP address.

Once a player wins, they will be ineligible to be nominated a second time. All of the season winners will be recognized and receive a plaque at the TriStateFootball.com Year in Review Show in February (more details announced during postseason).

Here are this week’s nominations:

Dylan Beaugard, Wilmington, RB/DB – He tallied 247 all-purpose yards, including 163 yards rushing on 13 carries with three touchdowns and six tackles as the ‘Canes blew past Greenville, 26-7.

Stephen Cooper, Bethel-Tate, RB/LB – Cooper rushed for 143 yards on seven carries, had three receptions for 101 yards, three rushing touchdowns and seven tackles as the Tigers won a 55-34 shootout over Fayetteville-Perry.

Greg Corn, Madeira, RB – he runner carried the ball 28 times for 344 yards with four rushing touchdowns and also had three receptions for 39 yards in the Mustangs 51-14 stampede through Aiken.

Ethan Gundler, New Richmond, DB – He as in on 10 total tackles, had 1.5 tackles for losses with two interceptions, including a pick six in the Lions’ triumph over Taylor.

Dante Hendrix, Cooper, WR/DB – The Cooper two-way contributor had four receptions for 144 yards, three touchdown catches and two interceptions as the Jaguars beat Bryan Station.

Mitchell Orschell, Franklin County, RB – He contributed to 22 points getting put on the scoreboard with a pair of two-point conversions and three touchdowns, including a 99-yard kickoff return. He also had 278 all-purpose yards with 165 yards on 14 rushes in the Wildcats’ victory over Rushville.

Dan Sichterman, Kings, DE – Sichterman registered 3.5 sacks, forced a fumble and returned an interception for a 38-yard touchdown as the Knights nailed Xenia, 41-7.

Jose Torres, Dixie Heights, RB – The Colonel racked up 292 yards on 21 totes with two touchdowns as the Colonels took out Milford, 28-13.

Nick Veneman, Highlands, WR – He caught nine passes for 225 yards with four touchdowns in the Bluebirds’ loss to Scott County.

Jay Volpenhein, Anderson, QB – The Redskins’ signal caller was responsible for 441 yards of total offense (313 passing, 128 rushing) and accounted for six touchdowns (four rushing, two passing) as the Redskins erupted for 61 points as they took down rival, McNicholas.

Courtney Woodward, North College Hill, RB – Woodward ran for 197 yards on eight carries with three touchdowns and 275 all-purpose yards as the Trojans shutout Finneytown.

Nakhyje Wright, Lockland, RB – Wright picked up 146 yards and three touchdowns on the ground as the Panthers won in a thriller over Clark Montessori.

Jordan Yelling, Deer Park, RB, DB – He scored all six of Deer Park’s touchdowns (three rushing, three receiving) and had 160 yards rushing to go along with five receptions for 141 yards, 343 all-purpose yards and two interceptions in the Wildcats’ win over Clark Montessori.
