Simon Kenton extends win streak
- Updated: September 9, 2016
Simon Kenton entered Friday having won 14 straight regular season games.
The last team to trip up the Pioneers prior to the playoffs? Dixie Heights in 2014.
But a 36-point first half helped ensure Simon Kenton would not see its streak snapped by those same Colonels, as the Pioneers won, 43-14 on Friday.
Cameron Racke capped off an 87-yard drive with a 7-yard run to open the scoring for the Pioneers midway through the first quarter, and a 9-yard rush by Dylan Hampton made it 15-0.
Jose Torres provided one of few Dixie Heights highlights with a 72-yard TD run that cut the lead to nine, but Simon Kenton ran on three straight touchdowns to cap off the first half.
The Pioneers travel to Cooper next week, and the Colonels are on the road as well, playing at Conner.
