Fairfield rallies past Lakota East
- Updated: October 21, 2016
Behind two second half touchdowns from Chico Robinson, the Fairfield Indians rallied to knock off Lakota East in a battle of Greater Miami Conference playoff hopefuls, 28-13, in Fairfield on Friday night.
Indians’ senior quarterback Aaron Carmack threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns, including a 65-yard pass to Robinson on the first play of the fourth quarter to put Fairfield (4-2 GMC, 6-3 overall) up 21-13 with 11:46 left. Robinson iced the game for the Indians when he scampered 54 yards with 3:16 left to make it 28-13.
Lakota East (3-3, 4-5) junior quarterback Dylan Fry ran for 135 yards in the losing effort, and the Thunderhawks out rushed the Indians 256-79.
Robinson, a junior wide receiver, made the most of his limited touches, leading Fairfield with 61 yards on just three carries, and 115 yards receiving on just two catches. Sophomore wide receiver Erick All had three catches on the night for 49 yards, including a 22-yard reception to set up a first half score.
Lakota East jumped out to a 10-0 with 11:13 left in the first half when Tyler Green carried it in from the 8 with 11:13 left in the half, but James Mitchell put Fairfield on the board with an 8-yard scamper, and Carmack hit Alex Kaminsky for a 3-yard touchdown pass to give the Indians the lead at 14-10 with :10 left in the half, a lead they would never relinquish.
Lakota East will travel to rival Lakota West next Friday to end the regular season, while Fairfield hosts Hamilton in their regular season finale to try and advance their post-season hopes.
