Week 6: WCPO Player of the Week

TriStateFootball.com has partnered with WCPO 9 On Your Side to present the High School Football Player of the Week for the 2016 regular season. Players will be nominated from the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Eastern Indiana areas.

WCPO-POWEach week 12-15 nominees will be selected from a large list of some of the area’s top performances and will be included in an online voting poll to determine a winner. The voting is open from now until Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. ET. Voters can vote once per hour, per IP address.

Once a player wins, they will be ineligible to be nominated a second time. All of the season winners will be recognized and receive a plaque at the TriStateFootball.com Year in Review Show in February (more details announced during postseason).

Here are this week’s nominations:

Austin Bowling, Lawrenceburg, RB – The Tiger ran the ball 22 times for 203 yards with four trips to the end zone versus Rushville.

Sean Cifford, St. Xavier, QB – He accounted for all four of the Bombers’ touchdowns (three rushing, one passing) as they bested league rival Elder.

Anthony Harrison, St. Bernard, QB – Harrison racked up 367 yards of total offense (256 rushing, 102 passing) and accounted for five touchdowns (three rushing, two passing) in a win over New Miami.

Will Hausfeild, Turpin, RB/DB – He came up with two big interceptions as the Spartans slayed Kings to remain unbeaten.

Evan Jenkins, McNicholas, WR – Jenkins had four receptions, all of which went for touchdowns, and 139 yards in the first half as the Rockets soared past Carroll.

Griffin Merritt, La Salle, QB – The signal caller went 17-of-22 for 388 yards with six touchdown passes as the Lancers rolled Moeller, 55-14.

James Mitchell, Fairfield, RB – He caught 11 balls for 151 yard and three touchdowns in the Indians thrilling 35-27 victory over Sycamore

Gerald Smith, Harrison, WR – Smith found the end zone six times (three receiving, two rushing, one kickoff return) had 13 receptions, 176 receiving yards and 327 all-purpose yards as the Wildcats took down Talawanda.

Peyton Van Horn, Conner, LB – The defender tallied 12 tackles and had three sacks as the Cougars beat Lloyd.

Cameron Walker, Norwood, RB – He arried the ball 10 times for 169 yards and four touchdowns as the Indians knocked off Amelia.

Tim Williams, Aiken, QB – Williams amassed 240 yards of total offense (144 rushing, 96 passing) and accounted for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) as the Falcons flew past Woodward.
