Another title for Trotwood-Madison
- Updated: November 20, 2016
PIQUA, ohio – St. Mary’s Memorial refused to go quietly into the night but a late score by Trotwood-Madison propelled the Rams to their seventh straight regional title. It was the first time all-season that Trotwood-Madison has won a game by less than 29 points. The Roughriders were a very game opponent for the Rams.
Trotwood-Madison running back Raveion Hargrove set the tone early with two first quarter touchdown runs. The junior finished the night with 212 yards rushing. It was the fifth time in his last six playoff tilts that he has ran for at least 200 yards.
Freshman Billy McDaniel also scored a pair of touchdowns on seven carries for 77 yards for the victors. Quarterback Markell Stephens-Pepper also connected with Caleb Johnson for a score. It was the seventh straight game with a touchdown catch for Johnson.
Trotwood-Madison will take on playoff nemesis Toledo Central Catholic (13-0) next Saturday at a site to be determined. Toledo Central Catholic knocked the Rams out of the playoffs in last year’s state semi-final game.
