Conner blown out by Scott County

The Kentucky Class 6A Playoffs were officially in full swing this week, as a second-round matchup put the Conner Cougars up against the Scott County Cardinals.

Scott County (10-2) opened the contest scoring 26 unanswered points, before eventually beating Conner (9-3) 46-19.

The Cardinal’s first score of the game came on a 1-yard rush by Jacob Burton in the first quarter, but after a missed PAT, it seemed as though the Cougars were still in it.

That’s when Scott County went on a 26-6 run in the second quarter, behind three Brice Fryman rushing touchdowns.

Fryman finished the game with 10 rushes for 114 yards and four touchdowns. He also had a 56 yard kickoff return to add to his already impressive game.

It was an odd occurrence, as Conner actually finished the game with more total yards of offense, 336 to Scott County’s 267, most of which came from Senior QB Walker Buelow.

Buelow finished going 16/24, passing for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Both passing td’s were hauled in by Brian Manning, who had 108 receiving yards on just two receptions.

Armand Jackson also came up big for the Cougars despite their loss, as he had 118 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.

Up next, Scott County will play Ryle (12-0) in the final 8 of the KHSAA Class 6A playoffs.
