Wyoming wins big over Valley View
- Updated: November 11, 2016
The Wyoming Cowboys earned a hard fought win over the Valley View Spartans tonight in the OHSAA Division IV playoffs, 29-12.
The Cowboys (12-0) opened up the scoring on a 29-yard touchdown pass from senior QB Andrew Marty.
Valley View (10-2) seemed to have retaliated quickly though, as they drove 77 yards on their next possession. They were unable to score after a missed field goal, and weren’t able to get on the board until their last possession of the first quarter, thanks to a three-yard rushing touchdown by QB Collin Wood.
Wyoming expanded their lead in the second quarter by scoring twice to make it a 21-6 game, and was able to hold on defense for the rest of the game.
Andrew Marty finished going 16 of 24 for 254 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Most of those yards were hauled in by Garyn Prater who had five catches for 127 yards. Jake Edmonds also had a big game, as he had five catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
Collin Wood led Valley View’s offense with 17 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 61 yards.
Up next, Wyoming will face Archbishop Alter next Friday in their first Regional final since 2009.
