Senior Salute: Drew Reckart
- Updated: December 9, 2016

Edgewood quarterback Drew Reckart did something that no other player in school history had done in 2016. The senior was the first ever Cougar to be named Southwestern Ohio Conference (SWOC) offensive player of the year. Sure the league has only been around for five years but Reckart put his own unique stamp on the honor as leader of one of the most dynamic offenses the conference has ever seen.
Edgewood (8-3) was one of the most explosive teams in Southwest Ohio in ‘16. The Cougars averaged 41.0 points per game and scored at least that many seven times in the last nine games of the season. Reckart was the fuel that kept that monster offensive machine going. He finished the year throwing for 1,156 yards, running for 471 yards and accounting for 23 touchdowns (14 passing, nine rushing). While those numbers aren’t exactly eye-popping keep in mind that the signal-caller rarely played deep into the second half because the Cougars had built such commanding leads in their victories.
Reckart leaves Edgewood having thrown for 2,594 yards, run for 675 yards while accounting for 42 scores (27 passing, 15 rushing) at the varsity level. He did the vast majority of his damage during his last two seasons. Reckart will continue his athletic career at the University of Dayton as a baseball player.
