Sycamore pitches second shutout
- Updated: September 2, 2017
The Sycamore Aviators defense continued to dominate with their second straight shutout to start the 2017 campaign. This time it was a 17-0 win over Mt. Healthy in a non-conference game at home Friday night.
Last week, the defense only allowed 50 yards on five first downs, and then they did it again this week against an Owls team that scored 20 points last week in a loss to Taft High School.
The Aviators started slow with only a 3-0 lead after the first quarter, but then the offense started producing. Sophomore running back Jordan McConnell scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to take a comfortable 17-0 lead into halftime.
Sycamore will open GMC play next Friday when the Aviators host Mason. This shutout streak will be challenged next week when the Aviators play one of the best offenses in the GMC. Mason scored 31 points in the first week against Springboro, and 55 points this week in a win over Winthrow.
Mount Healthy will look get its first win next week when they host Dunbar HighSchool.
