St. X passes its way past Fairfield

Chase Wolf threw for 374 yards and four touchdowns as St. Xavier beat Fairfield, 40-12 in a Division I playoff opener on Friday.

Wolf completed 23 of 37 passes. Andrew Wittrock caught five of those throws for a game-best 151 yards, and Jared Kreimer pulled down five receptions for 127 yards.

Both had a TD catch, as did Cameron Specht and Nick Shamsi.

The Bombers took the lead on a safety, but the Indians went ahead, 6-2. St. Xavier ran off the next 38 points.

St. Xavier will face Sycamore in the second round next week. The Bombers beat the Aviators in overtime of the state quarterfinals last year.
