Highlands gets a statement win over Simon Kenton
- Updated: September 22, 2018
FORT THOMAS, Kentucky – It was the sixth week of action for most Northern Kentucky teams on Friday night as teams began to posture for playoff positioning, highlighted by two of the top three teams in the TSF Northern Kentucky rankings squaring off as No. 2 Simon Kenton visited No. 3 Highlands.
The Highlands Bluebirds handed the Simon Kenton Pioneers their first loss of the season in dominating fashion as they cruised to a 38-9 victory at David Cecil Memorial Stadium in Fort Thomas. It snapped a three-game losing streak the Bluebirds had against the Pioneers.
The Bluebirds raced off to a 14-0 lead starting with Brycen Huddleston opening the game with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. After a quick three-and-out by the Pioneers, Grady Cramer connected with Adam Weyer on a 26-yard TD pass on Highlands’ first series.
Simon Kenton quarterback scored the only touchdown of the game for the visitors Caleb Farfsing rushed for a 38-yard TD run midway through the opening frame. Farfsing later left the game with an injury and did not return.
