Little Miami Improves to 4-0, Parties Like It’s 1999

MORROW, OHIO – Little Miami stayed hot tonight as the Panthers put on a show against the Mount Healthy Fighting Owls, shutting out their opponent 41-0.

The Owls didn’t seem to put up much of a fight, but that rests more on the Panther defense than anything.

The Panthers looked sharp all night, causing turnovers in every way possible. Little Miami recovered two fumbles, stopped a fake punt on a 4th and 25 previously set up by a big sack, and scored on a long pick-six, but it’s the offense that did most of the scoring.

The Panthers took a quick 15-0 lead on the Owls thanks to two passing touchdowns by Junior QB Brody Reder, the second of which was a 25-yard dime to Two-Way Senior Luke Patten with 3:16 left in the first quarter.

Neither team did much in the second quarter, but Patten continued his scoring ways in the third by rushing for a 2 yard score with 5:17 to go.

The rest of the team got involved shortly after, as Senior Trent Dawson ran for six, and Junior DB Connor Jones, a star on the Panthers’ defense, recorded a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown with just 40 seconds left in the third quarter.

Dawson recorded another TD run in the 4th just to be safe, but there were no signs of life for the Mt. Healthy Owls in the game.

With the win, Little Miami stays undefeated on the season, and they have good reason to party, as it’s the first time they’ve started 4-0 since 1999.

They’ve also outscored their opponents 159-41 this season, an impressive feat through four games.
