Alter can’t stop raid by Kenston Bombers

CANTON, Ohio – A sluggish start could slow down Kenston after they built up a head of steam. The Bombers scored 42 unanswered points after Alter built a 6-0 first quarter lead. The victory for Kenston gave its first ever state title in three tries. They did it in grand fashion racking up425 yards of total offense.

Junior QB Jon Tomcufcik went 16-23 for 285 yards with three touchdown passes. Classmate Jack Porter found the end zone and finished the night with 116 yards on 20 carries. Senior Bransen Stanley caught four passes for 71 yards and a pair scoring catches. He also had one of three interceptions by the Bombers defense.

Alter (13-2) who was looking for its third crown in five trips to the finals was led by sophomore RB Branden McDonald who gained 101 yards on 14 carries.
