Firebirds soar past Sycamore

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Lakota West was clicking on all cylinders as they blanked Sycamore for its third straight victory to start 2020. The Firebirds defense came up with its second road shutout of the year. The offense had season highs of 385 yards of total offense, 209 yards rushing and 176 yards passing.

Lakota West held Sycamore to 100 yards of total offense and just 2-10 on third down conversions. Just how good have the Firebirds been on this side of the ball? They are holding opponents to 136.0 yards of total offense, 55.3 yards rushing, 21.2% on third down conversions and 4.3 points per game.

The Lakota West offense had great balance against the Aviators. Sophomore Mitch Bolden threw for career highs of 176 yards and four touchdowns. Adrian Davis caught four of those balls for 97 yards and a pair of 40-yard scores. Joshua Brogden and Cameron Good each ran for 79 yards. Brogden had the team’s final touchdown on a 44-yard run.

Bolden has seven touchdown passes over his past two games. It is the most in a two week span by a Firebirds quarterback since Blake Darland did it to start the 2014 campaign (five vs. Loveland – 8/29/14, two vs. Elder – 9/5/14).
