Warner, Branam, Bonifay best in Division II

Fairborn (6-1) linebacker Hunter Warner was named the Division II Southwest District Defensive Player of the Year for a second straight season. In seven games, Warner tallied totaled 65 tackles, two sacks, recovered two fumbles and had a sack. He also ran for 1,008 yards and found the end zone 10 times (eight rush). “This is one of the most dominant high school players in the state of Ohio,” Skyhawks head coach Randy Kerns stated.

La Salle (8-3) quarterback Zach Branam was touted as the Southwest Offensive Player of the Year. Branam helped lead the Lancers to their fifth Region 8 title in the last seven years while throwing for more than 1,500 yards and running for more than 1,300 yards for a second straight season. He finished with 1,676 yards through the air, 1,394 yards on the ground and accounted for 35 touchdowns (21 pass, 14 rush).

Stebbins (5-3) made the playoffs and won its first postseason game in school history. For that Indians head coach Greg Bonifay was named the Southwest District Coach of the Year.
