Dayton Round-Up: The ‘Burg Bounces Alter

Who would have thought that after three weeks of the season Miamisburg and Fairmont would top the GWOC standings with 3-0 marks. After Friday night, both teams have wins over Alter as Miamisburg knocked off the Knights. Fairmont has given up just 14 points on the season. The GWOC schools are a combined 15-6. Beavercreek (0-3) is the only school that isn’t .500 or better.
MIAMISBURG 33, ALTER 14 – It was a balanced offensive attack that propelled Miamisburg to a huge win over Alter. It was team effort as the Vikings amassed 381 yards of total offense (170 pass, 211 rush) with a pair of scores on the ground and through the air.
Five Miamisburg players, Jackson McGohan (89), Drew Copsey (88), Christian Davis (86), Drew Dunaway (63) and Corwyn Hurt (49) combined for 375 yards from scrimmage. Quarterback Justin Barry threw for 170 yards with two touchdown tosses and no interceptions.
Ohio State commit CJ Hicks caught a two touchdown passes from Gavin Connor for Alter. Hicks finished with 88 yards on six receptions and ended the night with 181 all-purpose.

MONROE 66, WESTERN BROWN 58 – Elijah Jackson ran for 403 yards on 36 carries and three touchdowns, Alex Pitsch churned out 103 yards on eight totes with four trips to the end zone, Ryan Miles added 129 yards on 11 attempts and a pair of scores as Monroe pounded out 664 yards on the ground in a wild win over Western Brown. The two teams combined for 1,280 yards of total offense and 124 points. Western Brown quarterback Drew Novak accounted for eight touchdowns (four pass , four rush) and amassed 624 yards of total offense (503 pass, 121 rush).
