Dayton Round-Up: Piqua Survives, Remains Unbeaten
- Updated: November 7, 2021
Heading into Friday night’s second round playoff game, Piqua had won all 10 of their contests by 19 points or more with an average margin of victory of 40.5 points in those victories.
The Indians had their hands full in this one. Withrow star running back Ty’aris Stevenson, the CMAC Red Offensive Player of the Year would breakout on an 82-yard run just 46 seconds left before intermission. The Tigers would hold that advantage until early in the fourth quarter. Piqua had never trailed at halftime of any game this season.
The defenses were stellar throughout this affair. It took some heroics by Indians stud runner Jasiah Medley the MVL Offensive Player of the Year who sprinted 89 yards for a score with just under 10 minutes left in the contest. It would be the final points of the night.
Medley finished the evening with 152 yards on 29 carries, two rushing scores (32 RuTDs on the season) and another 65 yards on five receptions for Piqua. Stevenson paced the Tigers with 125 yards on 15 totes.
