Springfield heading back to finals

PIQUA, Ohio – Senior quarterback Bryce Schondelmyer threw for 256 yards with a pair of touchdown passes to Anthony Brown and Shawn Thigpen as Springfield got past Moeller to make it to the Division I state championship game for a second straight season . The Wildcats will face St. Edward again. They fell to the Eagles 23-13 a year ago.

Schondelmyer’s awesome season continued, raising his totals to 4,424 yards and 47 touchdowns passing. Moeller running back Jordan Marshall had game highs with 165 yards and three touchdowns rushing. Marshall finishes his junior campaign with 1,951 yards and 30 touchdowns rushing.

This is the sixth time since 2010 that head coach Moe Douglass has taken a team to the state title game (with eight regional championships in that span). He won it all with his alma mater, Trotwood-Madison in 2011 (Division II).

Brown, a University of Kentucky commit had for catches for 85 yards and his 19th and 20th touchdown receptions of the season. He has 75 receptions for 1,543 yards and 2,106 all-purpose yards. It has been quite a career for brown whose caught 174 balls for 3,236 yards with 36 touchdown catches, 41 total touchdowns and 4, 162 all-purpose yards.
