Blitz 5 Top 25: Week 9

Taking care of business and finishing strong the last two weeks of the 2023 season are top priorities for the teams in the Blitz 5 Top 25 presented by TriStateFootball.com. Squads are jostling for playoff positions and home field advantage as the year comes to an end. There is plenty to keep schools in the rankings motivated.
There are just two games that have Blitz 5 Top 25 teams taking on each other,
#4 Lakota West hosts #19 Mason and #18 Sycamore hosts # 14 Hamilton. Seven teams in this week’s rankings are still unbeaten.
Here is a look at the latest Blitz 5 Top 25:
- Princeton (8-0, 7-0) – LAST WEEK: beat then #24 MIDDLETOWN (3-5, 3-4), 41-15. Junior Antonio Hunter has returned three punts and one kickoff for touchdowns. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at Colerain (0-8, 0-7).
- East Central (8-0, 3-0) – LAST WEEK: beat GREENSBURG (0-8, 0-2), 62-0. The Trojans have outscored their last five foes, 276-0. UP NEXT: 10/13 – at Roncalli (3-5).
- Moeller (5-3, 3-0) – LAST WEEK: beat ST. IGNATIUS (1-7), 47-7. Jordan Marshall runs for more than 200 yards for just the second time in his career. NEXT UP: 10/14 – at St. Edward (7-1).
- Lakota West (6-2, 6-1) – LAST WEEK: won at Lakota East (1-7, 1-6), 34-0. The Firebirds defense has given up just 28 points with three shutouts during their current six game winning streak. NEXT UP: 10/13 – #19 MASON (4-4, 4-3).
- Milford (8-0, 7-0) – LAST WEEK: wo at then #8 Winton Woods (6-2, 5-2), 3-0. The Eagles are 8-0 for just the second time in school history (1957). NEXT UP: 10/13 – WEST CLERMONT (3-5, 3-4).
- Anderson (7-1, 6-1) – LAST WEEK: at West Clermont (3-5, 3-4), 50-5. The Raptors are churning out 443.0 yards of total offense per game. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at Turpin (3-5, 2-5).
- Elder (5-3, 1-1) – LAST WEEK: beat LIFE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (VA)(0-4), 49-7. The potent Panthers offense has scored 30 points or more six times. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at Bishop Chatard (IN)(8-0).
- St. Xavier (4-4, 1-2) – LAST WEEK: beat #15 La SALLE (4-4, 0-2), 24-13. The Bombers’ top the 20-point mark for just the third time this season. NEXT UP: 10/14 – at St. Ignatius (1-7).
- Withrow (7-1, 3-0) – LAST WEEK: beat AIKEN (2-6, 1-2), 46-6. The Tigers have a 29.3-point average margin of victory. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at Hughes (2-6, 1-2).
- Winton Woods (6-2, 5-2) – LAST WEEK: lost to #5 MILFORD (8-0, 7-0), 3-0. The Warriors have averaged just 55.0 yards and 2.1 yards per carry rushing over the last three games. UP NEXT: 10/13 – at Loveland (5-3, 5-2).
11. Covington Catholic (7-0, 2-0) – LAST WEEK: BYE. Colonels are aiming for their first unbeaten regular season since 2019. NEXT UP: 10/13 – HARRISON COUNTY (4-3, 1-1).
- Badin (8-0, 3-0) – LAST WEEK: beat ALTER (4-4, 1-2), 29-24. The 24 points the Rams yielded to Alter are the most they have allowed in 29 games dating back to 2021. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at Chaminade Julienne (6-2, 2-1).
- Highlands (7-1, 3-0) – LAST WEEK: beat BOONE COUNTY (1-6, 0-3), 53-7. Five times in the last six weeks the Bluebirds have posted 50-points or more. UP: 10/13 – CONNER (4-4, 1-2).
- Hamilton (6-2, 6-1) – LAST WEEK: beat COLERAIN (0-8, 0-7), 23-7. The Big Blue is looking for its first seven-win season since 2010. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at #18 Sycamore (5-3, 5-2).
- La Salle (4-4, 0-2) – LAST WEEK: lost at THEN #9 St. Xavier (4-4, 1-2), 24-13. The lancers have dropped three in a row after a 4-1 start. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at Detroit Catholic Central (MI)(5-2).
16. Taft (6-2, 2-1) LAST WEEK: beat WESTERN HILLS (3-5, 2-1), 61-0. The Senators top the 40-point mark for the fourth time this season. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at Aiken (2-6, 1-2).
- Beechwood (7-1, 5-0) – LAST WEEK: beat OWEN COUNTY (4-4, 1-2), 67-0. Four Tigers underclassmen have found the end zone nine times or more – Luke Erdman (13), Tyler Fryman (11), Chase Flaherty (nine), James Cusick (nine). NEXT UP: 10/13 – at Carroll County (5-3, 3-0).
- Sycamore (5-3, 5-2) – LAST WEEK: won at then #18 Mason (4-4, 4-3), 21-10. Senior Eugene Harney has run for 130 yards or more five times in the last seven contests. NEXT UP: 10/13 – #14 HAMILTON (6-2, 6-1).
- Mason (4-4, 4-3) – LAST WEEK: lost at then #20 SYCAMORE (5-3, 5-2), 21-10. The Comets have had three turnovers four times in their last six games. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at #4 Lakota West (6-2, 2-1).
- Clinton-Massie (8-0, 3-0) – LAST WEEK: beat WESTERN BROWN (3-5, 2-1), 63-14. The Falcons have won their last 26 games in October dating back to 2017. NEXT UP: 10/13 – at Batavia (3-5, 1-2).
- Wyoming (8-0, 5-0) – LAST WEEK: won at Mariemont (4-4, 2-3), 17-14. The cardiac Cowboys have four victories by eight points or less. NEXT UP: 10/13 – INDIAN HILL (6-2, 5-0).
