Tigers terminate Troy

DAYTON, ohio – For the first time in school history, Withrow is headed to the regional championship. The Tigers were dominant in all phases of the game, in the first half of this affair. They built a 28-0 advantage over Troy and never looked back. Coming into the contest, the Trojans had not allowed more than 15 points in a game all season.

Defensive back, Terhyon Nichols, a University of Kentucky commit, got the scoring underway with a sensational 76-yard punt return for Withrow. The Tigers had set the tone and made it an uphill battle, that the Trojans would not have enough firepower to answer for.

Withrow quarterback Luke Dunn threw for 269 yards and four touchdowns. Classmate Demetrius Howard ran for a career high 163 yards and the game’s final score. Dunn hit Quintin Simmons with two scoring strikes and Chris Henry, Jr. with another in the first half of the Tigers ambush, Henry, Jr. had season bests, of eight receptions and 135 receiving yards. Simmons reeled in four balls for 83 yards.

Troy star running back Jahari Ward the MVL Offensive Player of the Year tried to make a go of it after missing the previous three contests with a knee injury but was not a factor with two carries for three yards. Trojans sophomore quarterback Aiden Kirkpatrick stepped up finishing with 92 yards and two scores on the ground.
