CANTON, ohio – For third straight season, St. Edward takes down Springfield for the Division I state title. It was the Eagles seventh state championship, all have come since 2010.

A high scoring first half saw the teams headed into intermission tied at 21-21.
The defenses settled in after the break with a scoreless third quarter. St. Edward kicker Kellen Moyer broke the tie for good, knocking down a 36-yard field goal with 6:54 left in the contest.

The Eagles massive offensive line took over from there opening holes for sophomore Brandon White who ran for the last of his three touchdowns with 1:27 on the clock. White was a workhorse for St. Edward carrying the ball 32 times for 235 of the teams 305 yards on the ground. The Eagles posted just 31 yards through the air.

Jayvin “Bay Bay” Norman paced Springfield with 175 all-purpose yards (76 rush) and a pair of scores. Even though the Wildcats haven’t been able to solve the St. Edward mystery, their accomplishments speak for themselves having won five consecutive regional championships heading into next season.
