Tarblooders too much for Alter

CANTON, ohio – A robust and balanced offensive attack propelled Glenville past Alter in the 2023 Ohio Division IV state championship game. The Tarblooders churned out 461 yards (254 rush, 207 rec) on their way to back-to-back championships. Now, the only two titles in school history.
Quarterback Ruel Tomlinson paced Glenville amassing 290 yards of total offense (207 pass, 83 rush) and accounting for five touchdowns (three pass, two rush). D’Shawntae Jones added 161 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries. Ohio State commit Damarion Witten had five receptions for 86 yards and a pair of first half scores for the victors.
Alter came into the game red-hot having won seven in a row while allowing just 23 points with four shutouts in that span. Glenville had 26 points by halftime in this affair. The Knights were looking for their third crown and first since winning back-to-back titles in 2008-’09.
Alter was led by sophomore Noah jones who ran for 76 yards. He finishes the year with 1,310 yards and 18 touchdowns rushing.
