2023 TSF Indiana DPOY: Dylan Maxwell

East Central was one of the most complete teams in the Hoosier State last fall going undefeated and winning its second straight IHSAA Class 4A state title. The centerpiece of the Trojans linebacker Dylan Maxwell  his on field performance saw him be named the 2023 TriState Football Indiana Defensive Player of the Year, as TSF paid tribute to the area’s finest from Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Southeast Indiana at the Year in Review Show on Monday night, in front of a packed house at the Holy Grail in downtown Cincinnati. Maxwell was also selected IFCA to the Class 4A Senior All-State Team.

East Central gave up just 6.5 points per game and held 12 foes to seven points or less including seven shutouts. Maxwell tallied 86 total tackles, had 10.0 tackles for losses, two fumble recoveries (including a scoop-and-score) and two interceptions (both were pick-sixes). On offense, he also ran for 729 yards, averaged 14.9 yards per carry and found the end zone five times.

Maxwell’s 114 career solo tackles are third most in school history. He is looking at Preferred Walk-On opportunities and Indiana and Ball State.

Dylan and brother Alex, the 2018 TSF Indiana OPOY, become the fourth set of brothers to be named TriState Football Players of the Year. They join fellow Trojans Josh Ringer (2023 & 2022 TSF Indiana OPOY) and Sam Ringer (2021 TSF Indiana DPOY); Covington Catholic’s AJ Mayer (2017 TSF Kentucky OPOY) and Michael Mayer (2019 TSF Kentucky OPOY & 2018 TSF Kentucky DPOY) and Colerain’s DeShawn Pace (2019 TSF Cincinnati DPOY) and Orlando Pace Jr. (2018 TSF Cincinnati DPOY) in the exclusive group.
